TLDR: Hidden FL routes | XS 650 | Ria the Welder | Silas from Alaska

Hey riders,

Given my recent conversations, I found that focusing exclusively on riders and their epic rides will only give you a narrow field of view, so this issue we opened our newest section called ‘pit stop’ featuring the individuals who are adjacent to the riding world, but make it great everyday. You can admit the picture with her kid is cute, I wont judge.

We are looking to include a section to highlight technical knowledge and I have been scraping the forums for insight, but if you fancy yourself an expert in some aspect of the technical world of motorcycles, give me a shout, I would love to setup an interview.

(That includes garage mechanics, who are obsessed, I want to hear about it!)

Pit Stop: Ria, the queen of custom sissy bars & metal art

The open road has a way of stripping life down to its essentials. For many of us, it starts with a machine and a destination. But for Ria, it started with a half-inch round bar, a welding torch, and a heart.

Welcome to the first installment of Pit Stop, a new corner of American Moto Co. where we pull over to explore the craft, the culture, and the creators who keep the soul of motorcycling alive. Read more…

Reviews for Riders: Yamaha XS 650

If you have ever stood next to a shitty 90s washing machine on a spin cycle you know the experience of an XS 650 but some appreciate that, it’s a mechanical thrum that vibrates through the handlebars and settles somewhere in your chest. For decades, that sound belonged almost exclusively to the British, until Yamaha decided to build the XS650. read more….

Community Spotlight: Silas from Alaska

Motorcycles were never part of his world growing up. There was no early influence, no natural path that led him toward two wheels. In fact, for years, his understanding of motorcycles was shaped by the opposite experience. Working as a first responder, he had seen the consequences up close. He had seen what happens when things go wrong, and for a long time, that was enough to keep him firmly on the outside looking in. Read more…
