I'm Zach Janik, Total Control Training certified motorcycle instructor, home-grown mechanic, and the person who brought this idea to life.

I came to motorcycling the way a lot of people do: drawn in by the freedom of it, immediately humbled by how much there was to learn. I've spent years as a certified instructor watching new riders walk into their first class nervous, unsure, and second-guessing if they belong here. (They always do) Only to leave obsessed with the sport, just like I was the day I left my MSF class. 

I've also spent time wrenching on bikes in my garage, not only because I was broke as shit, but because understanding how something works is a craving I have had since I took apart my first washing machine in the driveway as a kid. But that desire helped me understand the bike at a deeper level and I believe it makes me a better rider overall.

Why I built this:
The motorcycle media world has a gatekeeping problem. Experienced riders sometimes forget how intimidating this world felt at the start. Beginners get talked past. "Real riders" get defined by what they ride, not how they ride.

I built American Moto Co because I wanted a place where a new rider asking "is this a good first bike?" gets the same quality of answer as a veteran asking "what's the best adventure touring setup for a 3-week trip." Every rider deserves honest information. This is where I try to provide it.
